Individual Counseling
I offer online counseling services via telehealth to help people work through difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and increase overall well-being. The first counseling session is an information-gathering intake session that typically lasts 75 minutes. All other sessions are 45-60 minutes. Some people need weekly or bi-weekly counseling while others need therapy less often, such as every two or three weeks or even monthly. The frequency of the counseling services and treatment goals are discussed within a collaborative process during the intake session.
I have a trauma-informed lens and use approaches primarily from the humanistic and person-centered theories, including narrative therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and psychodynamic therapy. I have additional certifications in grief counseling and conflict mediation, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy.
Group Counseling: Writing for Healing
Our brains are wired for storytelling. What we tell ourselves - the stories from our childhood, about the society we live in, and our own self-perceptions - becomes our reality. Sometimes we come to a place in our lives where we want to either change our stories or find more meaning in our past and current experiences. The Writing for Healing group helps people work through their healing using creative measures, steeped in storytelling and writing. Writing activities are emailed weekly to your inbox for ten weeks and optional follow-up groups meet virtually every other week during the ten weeks.
